For Semester 1 entry, on-campus courses
Applications for semester 1 entry are through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). This includes VCE students and students applying by entry pathways such as Monash College, or transfers from another university.
VTAC acts as a central agency, coordinating the selection process for tertiary institutions. This means that you submit one application for all the university courses that you’d like to do, and VTAC distributes your information to the relevant course selection officers.
Search for the course you want to apply for by using the VTAC code supplied below in brackets. There are two VTAC codes for each course:

In addition to applying through VTAC, applicants for all Music courses must sit an audition.
Direct and mid-year applications
Mid-year entry is your opportunity to start your course in July. You don’t have to wait until next the year to start studying. The Faculty of Arts welcomes applications from qualified applicants for entry at mid-year into our courses.
- Selection for mid-year entry is a competitive process and will be based on academic merit.
- For courses that permit mid-year entry, applications must be made directly to the Faculty of Arts.
Credit, transfers and scholarships
In some cases, credit may be awarded for appropriate study at university or TAFE.
Each year, about 25% of our new undergraduate students are eligible for credit for prior learning to be awarded towards their Monash Arts degree.
The Faculty of Arts offers credit for studies completed at a number of institutions in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.
Students may be eligible for one and a half to two years credit on select programs from these institutions.
Generally, you need to achieve a credit (60%) average to transfer into an Arts single degree, or a distinction (70%) average to transfer into a double degree.
Monash University offers over 200 types of scholarships, valued at up to $70,000, with benefits like:
- payments for study and living costs
- course fee subsidies
- accommodation and travel allowances
- leadership, mentoring and healthy lifestyle programs
Some scholarships offer one-off payments while others continue for the length of your course.
To be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP), you must apply by the deadline. CSPs are only available for selected courses.
