Korean Studies

The following recommendations are for Korean Studies. All units for this Major must obtain approval from the language department to receive credit.

Students should expect to study toward their Korean Major in Korea in the first Semester of their third year. To be eligible to study toward your Korean Major in Korea, students must have completed:

  • at least Korean Intermediate 2
  • at least two Korean language units at Monash
  • have received a D or HD in Korean Intermediate 1 and 2

Asia

Korea University – Korea

  • Program type: Exchange
  • KU is ranked 4th in Korea for higher institutions in 2015 and 17th in Asia (QS World University Rankings)
  • $1500 Monash Abroad Travel Scholarship granted to all students
  • Semester 1 and 2: 18 – 24 points

Seoul National University – Korea

  • Program type: Exchange
  • SNU is ranked 1st in Korea for higher institutions, 10th in Asia 36th in the world in 2015 (QS World University Rankings)
  • $2500 Monash Abroad Travel Scholarship granted to all students
  • Semester 1 and 2: 18 – 24 points

Yonsei University – Korea

  • Program type: Exchange
  • YU is ranked 5th in Korea for higher institutions in 2015 and 18th in Asia (QS World University Rankings)
  • $1500 Monash Abroad Travel Scholarship granted to all students
  • Semester 1 and 2: 18 – 24 points

Seoul National University Korean Language and Culture Program – Korea

  • Program type: Non-Monash program
  • Offered by Korean Language Education Centre
  • All program and tuition fees paid to host institution

  • Summer: 6 – 24 points
