  • General Applied Linguistics

    Dr Louisa Willoughby is the coordinator for the General Applied Linguistics specialisation and is a sociolinguist/applied linguist working in the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics at Monash University. Her main research interests are in issues affecting speakers of minority languages, particularly in education and health settings. Louisa is also interested in language maintenance and shift more broadly, language and identity and deaf studies.

  • English as an International Language Stream Coordinator

    Dr Zhichang Xu is the stream coordinator for the International Language specialisation and is a lecturer in English as an International Language (EIL). He has a disciplinary background in Applied Linguistics and Intercultural Education, and has extensive research and teaching experiences in Beijing, Perth, Hong Kong, and Melbourne.

  • Dr Robyn Spence-Brown is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics and supervises postgraduate students and conducts research in the areas of Japanese language learning and applied linguistics more generally. Robyn is currently Deputy Director of the Japanese Studies Centre and Chair of the Management and Advisory Committees of the Melbourne Centre for Japanese Language Education.
