‘Shanghai City Lab’ (APG5066) is a unique international study program aimed at immersing you in the cultural economy of one of Asia’s fastest growing cities.
In Shanghai you and your fellow students will gain insights into how creative clusters are developed and maintained within the space of a city, hearing from local researchers, policy makers and Chinese and Western businesses.
In the last ten years Shanghai has announced the creation of over 100 creative clusters in a bid to become UNESCO’s City of Design. New business models such as ‘Co-working’ and ‘Maker spaces’ in Shanghai are part of its aspiration to become a global metropolis.
You’ll be exposed to aspects of the city’s cultural and economic life that you mightn’t associate with Shanghai, such as the emerging music scene and film industry, and a thriving contemporary art district.
The Shanghai City Lab opens a window onto new opportunities for careers in the cultural economy.
