Experiential Learning, International Field Schools

The program includes regular industry presentations from senior industry executives and site visits to destinations within Melbourne, regional Victoria and other Australian destinations, including Sydney.

In keeping with the course’s strong focus on emerging economies, you will also have the opportunity to attend an international field school in an emerging economy such as Fiji or Vietnam.

The elective unit Contemporary Tourism and Development in Emerging Economies features, in association with London University’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), an industry-focused international field trip where you can gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing the development of the industry, and how tourism can be harnessed to maximise the benefits for developing nations.

Students also have the opportunity to take an elective unit (Research Project: International Tourism Marketing) where they attend the world’s largest industry trade fair and symposium, ITB Berlin.
