Arts student, Ashleigh Paholek, recently studied a unit of Introductory Italian, in-country at Monash’s Prato campus. She talks about her experience:
“I went to Prato to study Italian looking for an authentic experience, one that would make the unit unlike anything else I’ve taken in Melbourne.
Learning Italian in Italy made the process so much easier and more enjoyable. The teachers and staff made the whole experience better, they want you to get the most out of your time there and are so willing to help.
Prato is a beautiful town and is the perfect place for the university to be located. It is not touristy so you feel that you are living the real Italian lifestyle.
The food is unimaginable and my diet of pasta, pizza and gelato has been missed on arrival back into Melbourne.
You make amazing friends, mainly because you go through something so great together and you can’t help but make incredible memories.
If my course were longer or if I had gone earlier in my degree, I would return to Prato to take another unit.
Prato, the Monash campus and Italy overall was an experience I won’t forget.”
